The countdown begins! As the games approach, Seattle’s local organizing committee shared its first wins and plans for a lasting legacy following FIFA World Cup 26™.  As the world eagerly anticipates the World Cup 26™ Final Game, SeattleFWC will redefine the legacy of this global sporting extravaganza. Today marks 1,000 days until the World Cup 26™ Final Game, location TBD, and SeattleFWC26 has already set in motion a series of groundbreaking initiatives poised to leave an indelible mark on the city and state. The significance of this momentous announcement has been echoed by FIFA, underscoring the profound impact of the upcoming World Cup games on host regions and the world at large.

Lisa Chin, the newly announced Chief Legacy Officer for SeattleFWC26, exudes excitement for the long-term implications that extend far beyond the final whistle of the 2026 World Cup. “With 1,000 days remaining, we’re dedicated to bringing Washington into the global spotlight, showcasing our commitment to fostering enduring positive change and alignment with our core pillars of Culture, Community, Children, Human Rights, Accessibility, Environmental, and Sustainability.”

SeattleFWC26 enters this historic milestone with many accomplishments, including being the first organization to appoint a Chief Legacy Officer. The organization also secured a momentous partnership with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians on June 20th, signifying a shared commitment to inclusivity and unity. The SeattleFWC26 committee further solidified its focus on statewide engagement across Washington by hosting World Cup Watch Parties, collaborating with the Seattle Sounders FC, OL Reign, and RAVE Foundation across nine locations within the state during the USWNT World Cup Matches.

Underscoring its dedication to fostering equity and opportunity, the organization supported the RAVE Foundation’s 26 Fields by 2026 mini-pitches, a visionary initiative promoting accessible play for youth in historically marginalized communities. Most recently, SeattleFWC26 joined the RAVE Foundation at pitch reveals in New Holly, Yakima and Federal Way.

With 1,000 days and counting, SeattleFWC26 is engaging in a series of transformative measures, including collaborative efforts with state and local officials in shaping community programs that will reverberate across the city and the state. Honoring our city’s vibrant tech community, the committee plans to revolutionize the digital landscape with an innovative wayfinding app, reimagining regional navigation while spotlighting local businesses and boosting tourism opportunities.

SeattleFWC26 is gearing up to empower local entrepreneurs with the launch of Small Business Toolkits, amplifying the spirit of enterprise in the region. To celebrate the region's rich cultural tapestry, SeattleFWC26 is dedicated to integrating art installations, ensuring that the tournament serves as a canvas for the vibrant expressions of the Pacific Northwest's cultural identity and values.

“We’re not just celebrating sport; we’re celebrating the essence of our Pacific Northwest culture and values,” concluded Chin, “encapsulating the spirit of inclusivity and dynamism that defines SeattleFWC26’s vision for the World Cup.”
